This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Progyny, Inc. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer - Data & Analytics in United States.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a central role in building and optimizing data systems that power advanced machine learning and AI solutions. This position is focused on designing and maintaining scalable pipelines to deliver timely, accurate, and secure data for analytics and product innovation. You will collaborate closely with data science, engineering, and business teams to enhance member experiences and provide actionable insights. The role requires not only technical expertise but also the curiosity and adaptability to thrive in a fast-evolving technology landscape. Success will be measured by your ability to innovate, solve complex problems, and drive best practices within the data engineering discipline.

Accountabilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize data transformation pipelines supporting AI and machine learning initiatives.
  • Ensure data systems meet high standards of quality, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop monitoring, testing, and observability strategies for pipelines and processes.
  • Support incident response and resolution efforts for data-related outages.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, frameworks, and deployment patterns to evolve data platform capabilities.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to the maturity and scalability of engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
  • 7+ years of professional SQL development and 5+ years of Python development experience.
  • Proficiency with DAG-based pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
  • Knowledge of data access patterns such as caching, partitioning, and sharding.
  • Experience with data modeling, data structures, and data warehousing best practices.
  • At least two of the following:
    • Experience with ML/AI training and inference pipelines.
    • Experience with streaming/event pipelines using Kafka or similar.
    • Familiarity with FHIR JSON-based storage models.
    • Experience with graph data models and databases.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
